Jelle van Tongeren Group

The Jelle van Tongeren Group is a project featuring the young and talented violinist Jelle van Tongeren who has only been active in the gipsy jazz scene for a few years and is already regarded to be among the finest.

Jelle van Tongeren is backed by a grooving rhythmsection consisting of upright bass player Arnoud van den Berg and rhythm guitarist Frank Meester. Van den Berg studied at the widely knowned Hilversum Conservatory. Meester learned the tricks of the trade from the French guitarvirtuoso Gerard le Paz.

Last year, 2005, the trio worked with different gipsy lead guitarists like Fapy Lafertin and Paulus Schäfer in Amsterdam and the vicinity and toured with Reinier Voet through Switserland and France.

Still, the latest CD of the Jelle van Tongeren Group: Earbeat, besides material recorded earlier this year with Robin Nolan as well as a few tracks with Reinier Voet, consists of original Jelle van Tongeren compositions the trio recorded together.

A live show of this group guarantees a dynamic and energetic performance with both gentle intensity and highly virtuoso gipsy power!
